We need to rewind to 2007, a year that marked the beginning of my unravelling. As a single mother, life seemed perfect—career, home, but love, ah, that elusive quest. Little did I know, my pursuit of love would lead me down a dark path, one filled with scars. Fast forward to 2013, and the abuse turned physical, trapping me in a nightmare of fear and despair. But I stood my ground, fought my battles, and rebuilt, only to face a new onslaught—this time, a vicious smear campaign that left no part of my life untouched.
My innermost private world, once hidden, became public fodder. Every broken moment, every cry for help, laid bare for the world to see. Yet, I pressed on, working in a hostile environment, making almost daily statements at the police station, and enduring an eight-month battle that culminated in his arrest. Justice was temporally served, but the echoes of the smear campaign lingered. Christmas 2015 brought not celebration, but three court proceedings and ongoing investigations. 2016 became a relentless fight for justice, and I emerged victorious, securing protection orders for myself and my children.
But victory came at a cost. My health crumbled, and in 2017, I faced a breakdown of epic proportions. Yet, in that darkness, I found the spark to heal, to journey back to my inner child and pour the love I sought externally back into myself.
And then came Aquarius Woman—a Facebook page that began as a timid expression but evolved into a bold sanctuary for self-expression. For me, it was a masked haven, a place where I could share without fear. But how did it transform into the apparel store you see today? Life threw lemons my way, and I decided to turn them into something meaningful.
My journey didn’t end with victory; life had more lessons. Emerging from lockdown, I found myself in a two-year battle with the education system for my child’s rights. As if scripted, at the beginning of this year, I lost my job and partner. But here's the pivotal difference—I had found my voice. Tired of being gagged, I decided to speak out for my daughter and myself. And that’s when I turned to Aquarius Woman, my voice in the storm.
Art, my solace, became the vehicle for our story. The idea was born—to combine meaningful pieces with the story behind them. Thus, the store evolved, not just a place to sell designs but a platform to share our journey.
Now, Aquarius Woman stands reborn, a reflection of my whole personality. It's not just for fellow Aquarians but for everyone. Four distinct collections—Elegance, Rebel Warrior, Misery Loves Company, and Heyoke—embody different facets of my journey and personality.
